Helsinki

so this is it, this is supposed to be my new home for (at least) 9 more months. and i have to say: im extremely excited.
i finally live by the sea. when i wake up, i can hear ships coming and leaving. when im done at uni, i can take a walk at the ocean. i can sit there and stare into nothingness (well. once i manage to stare through those little houses on those little islands) but you get the idea. when im fed up, i can go into nature. enjoy lakes and forrest thats all over the place. i cant wait for snow. i just cant wait. its already cold (for me at least) so im hoping for some blistering cold during the next few mnths. as you can see, it took me a week to fall in love with this city.
i arrived on sunday the 24th after some long 4 hrs spent at the riga airport. riga is already on my "to-do-list". but it was good to catch up on some sleep and read while waiting for my next flight and to notice that this part of the world really is an hr ahead. funny. i always thought its the same time, yet again, the last time i went to helsinki was while i lived in russia. loooong time ago.
anyway. the drive towards the appartment (which i was lucky enough to score) was as exiting as the whole flight... it all just passed by and i zoomed out for whatever reason. we got here and i was told "well. there are better areas to live in" well. maybe there are, but i like it. takes me 15 minutes by metro to go downtown, 20 to get to uni. what more could you wish for? plus: its quite. i will have my time off. finally. this is what ive been waiting for the past 3 yrs. maybe longer. i dont remember.
the orientation thingy, which however didnt get me fully orientated in helsinki, lasted from mon to thu. endless hrs of waiting for something to happen. and endless more hrs to wait for papers to be signed. however, now im officially living in helsinki with a permanent something. wohow. i dont understand shit (besides hausk..aaaaa.. and i havent figured out how many a's there can be added to hausk, but i will.. im on a misson) and i get quite lost now and then but still, this is it. last time i felt like this was in melbourne (dear melbskids: i still love melbs the most. dont sweat)
agathe,alexX2 and i took a stroll around that little peninsula on tues. sososo nice especially when the sun is shining. i know where ill be studiing.
college is about to start next week, and i couldnt be more excited. this uni is GREAT. spread out all over town and SO much to do for students. a.w.e.s.o.m.e
i share my appartment with one danish girl and currently two english. international is go and cool, b/c we can only speak english, which was my main goal: speak english (at least till i can communicate in either finnish (not so likely) or swedish (more likely)
as i didnt bring my camera with me this time, i cant post pictures (boohoo, i know) but i will in 3 weeks. until then, you have to stick to me and my exitement in words.
